Engaging Afghan boys and men, both inside and outside Afghanistan, to support girls’ access to education and promote equal opportunities for learning.
His Voice for Her Rights is an initiative that engages Afghan boys and men, both inside and outside Afghanistan, to actively support girls’ access to education. In a male-dominated society like Afghanistan, where social norms often limit opportunities for girls, the involvement of boys and men is essential in influencing perspectives and expanding access to learning.
The initiative focuses on building a network of male volunteers who promote support for girls’ education through outreach, conversations, and peer engagement. It encourages boys and men to take an active role by advocating for equal access, challenging barriers, and helping create a more supportive environment where girls can learn and grow.
His Voice for Her Rights also contributes to fundraising efforts that support Let Her Learn programs, including educational initiatives and micro-grants for girls. By combining community engagement with financial support, the initiative helps expand access to learning opportunities and strengthen the overall impact of Let Her Learn.
Hilal Zakhilwal is an undergraduate student of International Relations at UC Davis. He is the Founder and Program Lead of His Voice for Her Rights, an initiative of Let Her Learn that engages Afghan boys and men to support girls’ access to education and promote equal opportunities for learning.
Hilal has been actively involved with Let Her Learn since 2023, contributing to program support and fundraising efforts. Through his experience, he recognized the importance of engaging men as allies and the value of raising their voices to stand alongside women, particularly in contexts where social and cultural barriers limit opportunities for girls.
Through His Voice for Her Rights, Hilal works to build a network of male volunteers who advocate for girls’ education, promote positive community attitudes, and support outreach and fundraising efforts that expand access to learning opportunities. His work focuses on strengthening community support and encouraging boys and men to play an active role in advancing girls’ right to education.
Hilal is committed to contributing to efforts that promote education, equality, and greater opportunities for Afghan girls, while fostering a culture of shared responsibility and support within communities.
His Voice for Her Rights is built on community support and collective action. We welcome Afghan boys and men, both inside and outside Afghanistan, who are interested in supporting girls’ education and promoting equal opportunities.
